Young Woman in Black

Her hair is dark
she paints her face
dresses in black velvet and lace
is a mystery to herself.

At weekends
she hands out poetry books
to skater boys
in the park.

‘Let me be your Muse’
she says.

An intriguing and carefully crafted character study. Opens out in the last line like an echo.

This is terrific. She's a sweet character I could see showing up in many different poetic scenarios.

I would love to collect the hand-out. Be my muse, more than welcome, I loved the way you used short lines... thank you.
