Passing Shadow

She carries her mourning
gravely through the streets
her sombre blurred reflection
in a café picture window
mingles oddly with a laughing
hen night out.

................The bride-to-be
falls silent for a beat
as she sees her shadow pass.

Enjoyed this one. I like the idea of a bride and a widow being reflections of each other.

A shadow of the future. Like it.

Haunting, yet it is something that happens to many people out there.

I love the second stanza--very haiku-like.

Also, thank you for stopping by, Juliet! :)
