This building is the Map Library, part of the National Libraries of Scotland. I remember this building being built when I was a student in Edinburgh, 20 or so years ago. It was quite controversial back then and it certainly doesn't blend in with the surrounding buildings, but it does have a strong identity!

Terrific shadow shots as always, Juliet! That is a beautiful building, but as you wrote, so different from the other buildings in the area! Hope your weekend is going well! Enjoy!

A map library? How I'd love to see that.
I like the way you've framed that first shot. The shadow is very mysterious.
Beautiful shot!
Come and See my Shadow Shots.
Great shadow shot...Happy SSS!
Strong identity--and strong shadows!
A SEEKER OF SHADOWS
A seeker of shadows one day
Asked shadows to come out and play:
“O shadows, my dears,
Despite all my fears,
I hope you will not run away.”

Beautiful shadow shots!
My Shadow Shot, hope you can take a peek!
I'm a new secret admirer. your images of the scenery around you are splendid. I really like the older buildings. they're so romantic and bold. and I like all the glass of the Library, never mind that it doesn't fit in. contrast is a healthy thing. happy SSS!
Wonderful mapping of the map library's shadows!
