Haiku - solitude

This week's prompt on One Deep Breath is Solitude. This is my haiku:

snow in the churchyard
behind a wrought iron gate –
woman in black.

Your haiku suggests so many different meanings - of sadness; mourning and yes, solitude and isolation. Very well done!

So much unstated, and unstated so well. I like it.

There's a great contrast there, the black on white, the sudden appearance of the woman in nature, and more. I like the image that it conjures for me and I can almost feel snow starting to fall outside my window even though it's only September.

Definitely a sharp contrast to your other haiku, setting a tone of desolation in the solitude. Well done!

I like the contrast of black and white, as well the coldness running through - of iron, of snow, of mourning.

This is what haiku is supposed to do...create a snapshot, catch a moment just like that. Love it!

If words can evoke color than yours have truly evoked an image of black and white.
