Sudden absence in his kiss
freezes her veins,
frosts her heart.
The king size bed stretches
under rumpled white sheets
like tundra.
The crystal at the window
mocks with rainbows
from a distant sun.
Tears lie cold on her cheek.

I love this poem. It is so sad but very beautiful. Though I liked every stanza, I especially love the first one.
Strange how cold things seem when you just know something is not right.
you put it so well, the absence, the lost, especially the first part
rumpled white sheets
like tundra.
i loved this.. i felt the division of ice between two lovers,, when there is a rift of argument between them in bed... excellent!!
Tragic is so often so beautiful - and in a way, haunting.
Tundra explain it all...
drifting
i like the dark, fairy tale feel.
great desolate images that create a mood perfectly... ouch!
Absolutely adored the 2nd stanza!
"The king size bed stretches
under rumpled white sheets
like tundra."
Great imagery. Kudos.
yes the third stanza is great---good sad poem--worthy of another read
Oh that is very cool, icy. Very precise and controlled too.
I shiver.
This "Cold" means so much!
Best wishes,
Angelika
How beautiful. I know of this feeling - this poem brought back a temporary flood of those emotions. Awakening to realize your love is not there - last night's argument was not a dream; the sadness of loosing a loved one is real; There is an emptiness in those feelings - but with time all voids are filled. Thanks for sharing. Peace, Light and Love, Cordieb.
The scene that the word 'tundra' elicits, and the use of such word in the scene in the second stanza -- now that's functionality in poetry. Apt and effective. ;) Cheers.
I love this poem, too. The first stanza just knocked me over.
Sudden absence in his kiss --wow!
this opening line is absolutely stunning.
I love this poem!
tundra is well chosen.
I like this poem a lot, especially the 3rd stanza.
