Advent

Because we no longer believe
we spend months preparing
for a festival
whose true meaning scares us
so we bury it under greed
and gluttony to escape
the cold slanting sadness
that is our fate.

Oh that is cool, cold and slicing. Beauty in the language like a stroke with a Zen sword.

hi Juliet, i like this lots and lots!!! wise, true words too!

thnaks for your comments over at mine, i think that seeing a whole estate turned to rubble must be even more demoralising than one factory, eek! it's a shame, the strange things man does...

Devika - isn't most poetry subjective?

I agree CGP..in fact i write about me and my life...

But here, the generalisation with the use of 'we' made me doubt...

hope my comment didn't annoy you...it's in me to write what i feel openly..its a spur of the moment reaction...nothing too deep in it :)

devika
