Parliamentary Shadows
I'm not a huge fan of the Scottish Parliament building, I have to admit (the entrance lobby is so dull and gloomy like a cave and many of the meeting rooms have pillars built in front of the windows so there's not enough natural light and what about all those branches of bamboo over the windows, again blocking out the natural light. But anyway, I did notice some nice shadows there today as we walked home from a nice wander round Arthur's Seat (which I'll blog about on Crafty Green Poet tomorrow).

An interesting network of shadows! And I am very interested to see Arthurs Seat of your world and compare it with my mountain world of the same name on the Mornington Peninsula!

Terrific, bright shadow shots for the day!! I think most government buildings tend to be dull, gloomy and cave-like -- just like what comes out of them!! Love your beautiful blue skies, too! Hope your weekend is going well!

Most Parliament/capitol buildings were built in that era where too much light was not allowed in while deliberations were going on. So natural light was not a consideration. Yet, in our travels we can often find shadowy art to compensate, and these shadows are so delicate and artistic. A nice find!

I couldn't agree more Juliet. While the outside of the building isn't great, there are little bits I like - the pods round the back and the little scottish quotations on the wall on the High Street side. Inside though, it's awful. To me it's overwelming image is of bare concrete, reinforced if you go up the stairs to the chamber.
I should in it's defense say that I think the chamber itself is great - light and airy and thoroughly suited to a modern parliment.
Hi Sandy - I do like the quotations and one day I should do a blog post on those! I've never been into the debating chamber except very briefly once when I got lost after a meeting and ended up there, which was a bit embarrassing so I fled as quickly as possible. I should go on a tour one day!
